Certified Surgical Technologist

MUST BE CERTIFIED AND MUST BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A C OMPLETE MEDICAL PROFILE before starting to work. The! se opportunities are throughout the State of New Jersey. Many opportunities are per diem and some will become long term. Great way to supplement income. AT LEAST One (1) year working experience IN A SURGICAL CENTER ENVIRONMENT AND/OR MEDICAL FACILITY (not including clinical externship) is required.
Following are some of the responsibilities of a CST and the requirements, but not limited too:
- Prepares for surgical procedures by setting up the operating room; organizing sterile table with surgical instruments and equipment, sterile linens, and sterile solutions.
- Keeps equipment operating by checking and adjusting sterilizers, lights, suction machines, electrosurgical units, and diagnostic equipment.
- Keeps supplies ready by maintaining fluids, such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose for use during surgery.
- Prepares patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites; transporting patients; positioni! ng patients on table; covering patients with sterile surgical ! drapes.
- Safeguards surgical specimens by preparing, caring for, and routing to laboratory.
- Serves and protects the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and JCAHO standards.
