The Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered professional nurse, who functions, within prescribed
guidelines, as an independent care provider in collaboration with the Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the management of
pre/post operative Cardiothoracic patients. Care is provided to patients in the outpatient and inpatient settings in collaboration
with physician assistants.. The NP serves as a resource for of! fice staff and other members of the interdisciplinary team in !
regards to patient and disease management.

Provides pre-operative, operative and post-operative patient care, under the direction and supervision of the attending surgeon
and in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and the state Physician’s Assistant Act.
Participates in student and patient education.
Requirements:
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of NJ.
Certified Nurse Practitioner in the State of N. J. Master’s in Nursing from an accredited program preferred.
Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
BLS, ACLS certified.

Graduate of an AMA accredited physician assistant program and licensed by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners. Prior experience in the management of patients! with Open Heart Surgery highly desirable.
