Location: Ridgewood New Jersey

Description: Valley Health is at present looking to employ OR Tech right now, this position will be placed in New Jersey. Summary: To assist surgeons and registered nurses by performing routine, technical, and related duties during surgical operations. To provide safe and competent care to all patients in a variety of age groups and function effectively with a variety of patient physical and emotional disabilities. Education: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal Surgical Technology Program. Experience: Minimum of 2 years OR experience.

Special Skills: CST and member of the Association of Surgical Technologist preferred. CPR Certification required. Must be able to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods. Ability to work cooperatively with members of the healthcare delivery team and staff.

Ability to demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, effectively solve problems, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and assist in meeting the care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Supervision Expected: None Supervision Received: Direct and functional supervision received from the Nurse Manager or Charge Coordinator.

Working Conditions: Exposed intermittently to confined quarters, humidity variations, odors, fumes, blood and blood borne pathogens, excreta, and communicable diseases in relation to patient contact. Subject to cuts, burns, and strains from lifting up to 150 pounds. Exposure to radiation (X-Ray and radium). Demonstrates correct body mechanics while standing and/or walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying medium to heavy equipment.

Requires close visual attention and intense concentration. OSHA: Bloodborne Pathogen Category I Employees in this job description are expected to have contact with bloodborne pathogens and as such they are required to be oriented and annually trained under the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration''s Bloodborne Pathogen Standard (CFR 1910.1030)
