Description
The successful candidate will be a key contributor to ! the cardiovascular drug discovery effort at Bristol-Myers Squibb. The main responsibilities will be to: 1. Perform animal experiments, including mice, rats, and rabbits with standard operating protocols and analytic methods under minimal supervision. Experimentation with larger species also may be required; 2. Conduct work with high integrity, and critically evaluate experimental results; 3. Promptly report issues and mistakes to line supervision; 4. Prepare reports and contribute to manuscripts; 5. Effectively apply new concepts/techniques reported in the literature, and read current scientific papers related to the work; 6.Collaborate with the other scientists within the research group to meet group goals and objectives; 7. Effectively handle concurrent assignments; 8. Design novel procedures and animal models with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
The position requires a BS/MS in Animal Science, Physiology or Pharmacology with at least 10 years of exp! erience. Experience in cardiovascular drug discovery research ! is a strong plus. Major skills required include: 1. Experience in rabbit and rodent animal surgery, experience with large animal surgery is a plus; 2. Experience in setting up animal models of heart failure, experience with models of thrombosis and/or atherosclerosis is a plus; 3. Good understanding of cardiovascular physiology/pharmacology; 4. Demonstration of diversified skills and diverse problem solving skills in research with minimal supervision; 5. Good oral/written communication skills, statistical and computer skills.
