Description

In this role the ideal candidate will:

  • Implement animal! models of diabetic kidney disease, and support in vivo modeling of candidate therapeutics in such models
  • Collaborate with other scientists involved in in vivo modeling for diabetic kidney disease
  • Participate in drug discovery working groups, and present data in these and other scientific forums internally
  • Participate in the target review process and apply scientific knowledge to the selection of new targets in DKD
  • Evaluate the scientific literature to apply state-of-the-art scientific methods and knowledge to drug discovery.
Qualifications

The ideal applicant will have at least 10 years of experience beyond academic training required; and pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred. Specific experience in the following greatly desired:
  • Knowledge and scientific experience related to normal renalphysiology, diabetes, and the pathophysiology of diabetic kidney disease (DKD)
  • Knowledge and e! xperience related to the use of relevant in vivo animal models! to study DKD
  • Knowledge and experience related to the drug discovery process
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary drug discovery teams.
  • Proven hands-on skills in small animals handling, dosing, sampling and necropsy. Previous surgery training/experience highly valuable. Animal dosing during weekend may be required.
  • Hands-on skills in histology tissue processing (tissue embedding, sectioning, staining), immunohistololgy and morphometrics are a plus but not essential.
  • Some knowledge and experience in basic laboratory assays (such as ELISA, PCR and RT-PCR) strongly preferred.
  • Track record of scientific accomplishment as evidenced by publications and/or project related recognition(s).
  • Demonstrated excellence in both written and oral communication as well as data handling and statistical methods.
  • Demonstrated commitment to scientific excellence and scientific rigor.
EDUCATION PREFERRED: ! BS with 13+ years or MS with 10+ years experience.
