This Hospital provides high quality services primarily for the population of the Causeway area, in a modern facility. In November 2002 a new urodynamic service was introduced for patients with bladder problems. As a result it is now possible to offer assessment and confirmation of bladder dysfunction, helping to speed up the diagnosis enabling the patient to be treated more quickly. There is also a state of the art Urology Table, which expands the range of procedures the Consultant Urologists can undertake.
The Domestic Services have achieved the Charter Mark Quality Award. The Coronary Care Unit already achieved this! a number of years ago and are in the process of reaccreditati! on. The electronic materials management won Best Practice Award in Northern Ireland and Maternity services have won two quality awards. The Protected Elective Unit for Surgery has been very successful and they are continuing with this approach so that patients are guaranteed beds for surgery on a daily basis. They have also introduced a number of initiatives which enhance the quality of care to patients, such as the nurse-led telephone service to patients within 24 hours of surgery.
