The Senior Scientist conducts research to provide innovative solutions to unmet clinical needs. He or she works closely with other team members both within and outside of Department to identify unmet needs and technical challenges and to evaluate new technologies and innovative solutions. Basic project management skills are utilized in application of the fundamental principles of research. This position serves as a mentor to other Scientists and requires minimal supervision.
- Identify and develop new technologies and materials for innovative solutions to clinical needs.
- Coordinate with internal and external collaborators, suppliers and vendors to bring state-of-the-art technology solutions to orthop! edic applications.
- Mentor other scientists in princip! les of research, best practices, industry trends, and skill development.
- Generate prospective research project plans including test protocols to validate proof-of-concept and support technology transfer.
- Generate technical memos and reports to a level of detail as required by the audience, up to and including that necessary to support a regulatory submission.
- Support Business Units, Operations, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance on an as-required basis.
- Lead project teams as needed.
Bachelors degree in a relevant materials or biological science, with a Masters or PhD preferred.
- 5+ years of research experience in the medical industry or equivalent.
- Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated inter-personal skills.
- Demonstrated Preclinical Study, Histopathology and Animal Surgery.
