Job Summary: The Billing Representative is responsible for ensuring that all charges (Professional and Technical) for services render! ed for their assigned physician (s) are entered into the practice management system.
Summary of Accountabilities:
1) Input all charges for professional/technical services provided in the office and/or hospital for assigned practice site
2) Input of CPT, ICD-9 and required modifiers for all professional/technical charges rendered by physician
3) Input of financial remarks into billing system including physician directives as to professional courtesy
4) Maintain current information on patients (name change; address; insurance updates) as given to you
5) Communicate any escalading billing related issues to Billing Supervisor
6) Maintain accuracy rate of 99%
7) Assists with any additional duties as needed or as directed by Billing Manager and/or Regional Administrators and Physician(s)/Surgeons.
Minimum Degree Required and Experience Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required, working knowledge of Exc! el.
Minimum Experience preferred:
Minimum ! 5 years third-party billing and EOB forms and Managed Care, experience in a cardiology office.
Skill Requirements:
Detail Oriented/Ability to pay close attention to coding and numbers
Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients and hospital departments.
Good command of the English language both orally and written.
Basic Computer Skills/Data Entry
Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
Working Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
Physical Requirements:
Ability to see and hear within normal limits with or without use of corrective devices
Motor dexterity of hands and fingers.
Ability to utilize proper body mechanics
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds (without assistance)
Ability to frequently bend, lift, move and pull. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
