Job Summary: The ophthalmic assistant assists the ophthalmologist by performing various ocular and diagnostic tests.

Educational Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Compassionate, caring, and professional attitude
- Flexibility and the capability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast paced setting
- Ability to work individually as well as within a team
- Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor
- Experience working with irate patients and handling conflict professionally
- Good working knowledge of current computer system
- Visual Fields, OCT's and other duties as directed.
- Norma! l range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communi! cate appropriate exam notes and reports.
- Assists patients into and out of examination chairs, pushes wheelchairs when necessary, some miscellaneous lifting
- Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a slit lamp, phoropter, keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other medical office equipment is required.

Atlantic Eye Physicians are committed to safety and have developed a policy to protect you from injury on the job. Your help is vital for your own protection. Please observe the following safety rules.
1. No alcohol or drugs on the job at any time.
2. Report all injuries to your supervisor immediately.
3. All non-emergency treatment for accidents must be authorized by your supervisor first.
4. Wear seat belts at all times while in vehicles on company business (its New Jersey law).
5. Be responsible for keeping the area where you work clean and neat at all times.
6. Do not remove or bypass any guards on any m! achinery at any time.
7. Ask your supervisor if you need additional! equipment or instruction to get the job done safely.
8. Bend your knees and keep your back straight when lifting. Use material handling equipment for heavy or bulky objects.
9. Advise your supervisor of any hazardous conditions.
10. Wear proper eye and face protection when exposed to flying particles, hot splashing materials, or chemicals.
11. Never adjust or repair machinery while it is in motion
12. Use step stools instead of chairs.
13. Store materials/supplies in an orderly manner.
14. Follow all other written and spoken safety rules.
