The Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care System is a complex affiliated teaching facility with two main campuses and nine satellite outpatient clinics throughout the state.
VANJHCS offers a comprehensive array of medical, surgical, ambulatory care, research, and psychiatric services and is situated in northeastern New Jersey. In addition to General Surgery, the following surgical disciplines are offered: Vascular, Thoracic, Surgical Oncology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Urology, ENT, Plastic Surgery, Podiat! ry. Service is provided through ambulatory and inpatient surge! ry settings. We are affiliated with New Jersey Medical School and Rutgers University.
VANJHCS is seeking an experienced, board certified/eligible surgeon to oversee the operation of a complex surgical department. Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient care, supervising residents and medical staff, research, and quality improvement. The successful candidate will practice in his or her discipline and will be expected to obtain a medical school faculty appointment with Rutgers University.
Proficiency in administrative, programmatic, clinical, and academic oversight of surgical programs and knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements, Utilization Review, and quality improvement procedures is essential. Management experience, outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to promote surgical staff development and excellence in patient care are critical. U.S. citizenship is required.
