Job Summary:
To provide direct, basic patient care under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse. To provide care and cleaning of specific equipment. Stocking of supplies and equipment. Escorting patients. Transporting supplies and equipment. Responsible to assist the Physician, PA, NP and RN in support of medical care of urgent care patients. Day to day activities will vary from answering phones, patient registration, check-in and check-out activities, and trans! porting patients to performing lab work.
Education! : HS/GED required
Experience: 0-1 required, 2-4 years preferred
Licensures/Certifications: CPR required. EMT, certified nursing asst or medical assistant certification preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Includes the following;
1. Demonstrates high level of interpersonal and communication skills necessary to consistently receive and greet visitor, patients, and staff members in a professional manner.
2. Perform selected technician duties as assigned by the RN or Physician.
3. Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Take patient vital signs, EKG
4. Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
5. Clean wounds as instructed by physician and apply dressings as instructed.
6. Requires ability to perform vena puncture.
7. Ability to perform point of care testing such as glucose monitoring
8. Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, inclu! ding sterilization.
9. Assist provider in preparing for minor surgeries and exams.
10. Assist with Answering Phones, Patient Registration, Check-in, Check-out
11. Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.
12. Order and maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment.
13. Maintain patient files, records and other information.
14. Work closely with the Physician, PA, NP and/or RN to receive guidance and instruction for treating patients.
15. Perform direct patient care as instructed by the Physician, PA, NP or RN.
16. Perform lab tests as directed by the Physician, PA, NP or RN.
17. Adjust to quality assurance policies and procedures concerning all physical therapy issues.
18. Maintain equipment for use at all times, in a clean and safe condition.
19. Makes suggestions to improve work methods.
20. Trains new employees.
21. Other duties may be assigned
Skill Requirements:
Skill in establishing an! d maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, pat! ients, hospital departments, organizations and the public. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with ICD9 and CPT coding preferred. Good command of the English language both orally and written. Ability to perform diversified duties with a high degree of accuracy.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to see and hear within normal limits with or without use of corrective devices
Motor dexterity of hands and fingers.
Ability to utilize proper body mechanics
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds (without assistance)
Ability to frequently bend, lift, move and pull. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
