Posting Summary
Rutgers New Jersey Medical School is seeking a Practice Supervisor for the Neurological Institute of New Jersey. The Practice Supervisor oversees the day to day operations of the faculty practice for the Departments of Neurological Surgery, Neurology and Otolaryngology. Supervises a wide range of faculty practice administrative staff and develops and implements practice management strategies to maximize the efficacy of the faculty practice.

  • Manages Accounts Receivable and Finance. Responsible for ensuring the efficiency of billing, receivables, and reimbursement operations by working collaboratively with the billing manager and staff. Assures patient financial information is accurately obtained and triaged to financial coordinator.
  • Participates in the hiring, and all areas of performance management, for all administrative and clinical staff.
  • Assists in the development and revision of job descriptions and hiring requirements.
  • Appoints Team Leaders/Supervisors for key areas of the practice, who are responsible for collecting and calculating staff time cards, managing departmental staff schedules, and ensuring employee posts are filled at all times.
  • Recommends appropriate staff to attend continuing education courses, and informs physicians of CME courses.
  • Arranges for regular documentation audits; presents results to physicians
  • Serves as the head manager for the clinical operations, call center, and front desk.
  • Follows up on satisfaction surveys to assure continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field, plus three (3) years of professional experience working with physicians practice operations and Commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare reimbursements.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of modern surgical practices and procedures, as well as experience working with the Medicaid Managed Care companies.
  • Must be thoroughly knowledgeable about Commercial Insurance Carriers, Medicare and Medicaid regulations and how they relate to surgical practices.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access are essential, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
