Best Best & Krieger has an immediate need for an experienced Legal Practice Assistant with strong State and Federal Court litigation skills. Experience with municipal law a plus. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, independent self-starter with executive management skills who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-intensive environment. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and iManage or similar document management software. Excellent salary/benefits package and work environment.


REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

The Legal Practice Assistant is responsible for providing support to attorneys and paralegals. Responsibilities include preparing legal documents for filing with various courts, in various jurisdictions, preparing and processing new client matter reports, providing assistance to visiting summer associates and attorneys and accepting overflow work from other legal practice assistants.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • California state and federal court experience.
  • Complex litigation and trial preparation experience.
  • Prior CPUC experience.
  • Strong calendaring and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must have at least 5 years of relevant experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Normal law office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, and the like.

The reasonably expected pay scale for this position with 5 or more years of experience is $70,000 - $95,000 annually. The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s years of experience and location. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
