Maintains an efficient operation of an approved cancer registry according to the American College of Surgeons (ACOS), the New Jersey State Cancer Registry and the Cancer Committee.
Registers and follows all patients with a diagnosis of malignancy.
Retrieves and analyzes registry data on an ongoing basis.
Essential Duties:
Identifies all cases of malignancy diagnosed and treated at Saint
Clare’s Health System.
Obtains core information as required, completes abstracts within three months of discharge as required by the State, or in as timely a manner as possible.
Follows-up: Ensures the accuracy of follow up for all living patients to obtain end results on quality and length of survival at 90%..
Codes topography and morphology and accuracy of Tumor Node and
Metastasis (TNM) staging.
Contributes to maintaining an updated Policy and Procedures
Manual, Request Log and Quality Control Policy.
Participates in a minimum of two Patient Care Studies annually.
Assists with Cancer Conference and Cancer Committee meetings as necessary.
Prepares narrative and graphic presentations as requested.
Maintains certification and attends job-related seminars, workshops, and meetings for educational purposes..
Performs certain aspects of case-findings.
Qualifications
Education:
High School or Equivalent reguired
AS in science-related area and Biology and/or health statistics background preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in cancer registry required..

License/Certification:
Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) required or Accredited Record Technician (ART)
