Operating Room Technician

Location: Paramus New Jersey

Description: NuVasive, Inc. is in need of Operating Room Technician right now, this vacancy will be placed in New Jersey. Summary: Responsible for the planning, organizing, operating, and controlling the activities of the operating lab and surrounding area by performing the following duties:

  • Responsible for complete set up and preparation for labs including all instruments, equipment and cadavers.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean operating lab minimizing hazards and operating safely.
  • Responsible for all clean-up of lab after labs are completed.
  • Seeks assistance from others when necessary to ensure the safe provision of care for all in lab during surgeries.
  • Responsible for maintaining overall neatness and cleanliness of lab and lab prep area.
  • Maintain adequate stock of all disposables used in lab.
  • Responsible for handling surgical instruments, sterile badges, linens, needed fluids, and other equipment before and during every surgery.
  • Ability to assist with and independently operate C-arm for surgeries.
  • Responsible for dosimeter allocation, collection & tracking.
  • Provide suggestions when needed on more efficient utilization of lab & lab prep area.
  • Ensure that ther! e are adequate safety postings in the lab & surrounding the la! b in conjunction with the facilities manager.
  • Assemble/Inspect both sterile and non-sterile equipment.
  • Understands the procedures being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
  • Responsible for following all county, state and federal regulations pertaining to the safe operation of the lab.
  • Basic understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, physiology and sterilization methods.
  • Perform duties in compliance with applicable FDA and state regulations as well as standards including, but not limited to, ISO 13485.

    Computer Skills: Proficient and accurate with word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), charting, and graphs. Competency in navigating the Internet.

    Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstracts and/or concrete variables.

    Required Experience

    Education and/or Experience: A high school diploma or GED certificate is required. First-hand experience or classes in medical terminology, physiology and sterilization methods preferred.
