DUTIES:
VA New Jersey Health Care System (VANJHCS) seeks a Primary Care Physician for its East Orange, NJ campus in the Center for Health and Wellness under Ambulatory Care Service. The incumbent will be designated as a Primary Care (PC) Physician under the Associate Chief of Staff, Ambu! latory Care Service under the directions of VANJHCS. The primary purpose of the Physician is to provide comprehensive, whole-person medical care to a panel of primary care patients within a Patient-Aligned Care Team as part of the facility Center of Innovation Patient-Centered Care initiative. The health care services expected to be provided to veterans by the PC provider include, though are not limited to, holistic primary care medicine including: disease diagnosis and treatment, wellness care and prevention, and understanding of traditional and complementary treatment and prevention options. Women's health care must also be provided.
Residency training in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine is preferred, with additional training and/or experience in Integrative or Functional Medicine. The Physician reports to the immediate designated clinical supervisor, the ACOS of Ambulatory Care, and collaborates with the Administrative Officer (AO), Chief of Primary Care, an! d others assigned as administrative and clinical supervisors (Nurse Man! ager/Administrative Supervisors). He/She provides assistance of clinical, technical, specialized, and/or administrative support in nature to all administrative and clinical staff. This includes a collaborative relationship with a Nurse Practitioner and collaborative relationships with Integrative Care practitioners.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience:
Board certification in! Family Medicine or Internal Medicine is preferred.
Experience and/or residency training in Integrative or Functional Medicine is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
See VA Handbook 5005, Part III, Chapter 2, paragraph 7, and VA Handbook 5019, Occupational Health Services. Work is mostly sedentary in nature. Work requires moderate lifting, walking, bending, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling.
