The Mammography Technologist performs radiographic procedures at a technical level. This position requires the Technologist to work with very little ! supervision of detail, such as Diagnostic/Screening mammography procedures, localizations, and stereotactic biopsies. The Mammography Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to apply ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Produces diagnostic procedures in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Actively directs activities towards full compliance and accreditation with ACR, MQSA, NJ State DEP and TJC.
Effectively uses A.I.D.E.T. and explains the procedure to the patients with asking pertinent questions regarding clinical information, history, D.O.B. and for female patients of reproductive age if they are pregnant or breast feeding and their LMP.
Consistently assists the Radiologists and Surgeon in procedures in a professional and competent manner.
Readily accepts the opportunity to perform! other duties as required or needed including but not limited ! to: Copying films and reports, cleaning exam rooms, filing jackets, helping and assisting co workers, talking to upset patients.
Consistently adheres to all Radiation Safety requirements, including the use of radiation protective devices at all times.
Consistently reviews scripts and orders with all pertinent and correct information
Consistently starts and completes all exams in a timely fashion.
Orders supplies as needed for the department.
Consistently follows direction given from Supervisor.
Cover front desk (as needed)
Printing reports and schedules for following day.
Answering phones, retrieving messages and faxing reports.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Must be a High School graduate.
Completion of an approved Radiological Technology program that meets the requirements set by the ASRT and the New Jersey Certification Board.
Must be licensed by the Ne! w Jersey State-DEP and registered by the ARRT (RT, R) (M).
Minimum one year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
